Raffles Design Institute is honoured to be invited by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to redesign the uniform for our firefighters. To design a functional and stylish uniform in recognition of their selfless contribution to firefighting and disaster management, Raffles Product Designers Ivana ELVIANY, LUANGKHOT Siphaseuth, Michelle BILLY, and Raffles Fashion Designer KWANG Kar Kar had the first-hand experience at Yishun Fire Station of joining the training session with the SCDF squad. Commander FOO Kai Yiing also elaborated on the various safety considerations for the designers to take note of, and shared the unique fabric to be used in the making of the uniform.

The designers developed 6 proposals, taking into consideration ergonomic and aesthetic features of the new uniform and presented to DC Teong How Hwa on 28 October 2020.

We would like to thank DC Teong and team for giving Raffles Designers the opportunity to improve the functionality of the SCDF firefighter uniform and the image of SCDF.
